Podcast #3 observing the Kazakhstan Presidential election
Through my experience as an OSCE international election observer during the Kazakhstan presidential election on Sunday December 4th I will tell a highly personal Kazakhstan story. Photos linked.
My vantage point for this tale was Ust-Kamenegorsk (Oskemen in Kazakh) close to the almost joining borders of Russian, China and North-Eastern Kazakhstan and horse distance from Mongolia. From Americans digging gold in an isolated village to the emptiness of vanished Soviet army settlements you will uncover the context within which citizens of the Eastern Kazakhstan blast (province/region) voted.
